the girl we have slainEveryday she walked to school, the girl we have slain by halvwyn
If she complained she was called a fool
Nobody knew all the pain she had to hold
From when Daddy was home, when she got too bold.
Why didn't we notice the bruises she bore
Both on the outside, and in her core?
The signs were there, for all to see,
Who were we to say that it couldn't be?
Every night the little girl prayed,
That somehow, someday, she would be saved.
That daddy would stop inflicting the pain
That someday he'll see the pain gives him no gain.
Now we stand staring her new hole in the ground
Thinking of how she could have be saved, if we made a sound.
Our prayers for her life, are all in vain
For the young girl our ignorance has slain.
